Avocet (ABS) Locks: Cabinet & Camlocks

Avocet (The Avocet Hardware Group) is a UK door-and-window hardware brand best known for its ABS high-security cylinders, especially its anti-snap euro cylinders used heavily in uPVC, composite and timber door sets. They position themselves as a long-standing trade supplier of window and door hardware alongside the award-winning ABS cylinder range.

Where Avocet really made its name is anti-snap protection. Their ABS cylinders use patented mechanisms designed to “lock down” after a snapping attack—so even if the outside section is sacrificed, the door doesn’t open. Avocet markets this as Active Snap Protection / Snap Secure technology, built around an internal locking action triggered by the attack.

On the certification side, Avocet’s flagship ABS cylinders are commonly sold and independently listed with top-tier UK security markings like:

• TS007 3-Star (anti-snap standard for cylinders/door hardware)

• SS312 Sold Secure Diamond

• Secured by Design (UK police initiative)

Beyond cylinders, Avocet also sells broader “suited” door hardware ranges (handles and complementary hardware) aimed at giving fabricators/installers a consistent look and spec across a door set.
