Add locks to an existing ABS key
Your ABS key. One less key on the ring.
Already use an Avocet ABS key? A compatible padlock or rim cylinder can bring another lock onto the same key. Check your exact ABS profile and key code before ordering a lock built to match.
Add a padlock or a nightlatch cylinder
Choose the hardware for the job, then configure it to the existing code. Buying a standard lock or simply choosing a new keyed-alike group does not match the key you already own.
For a gate, shed, chain or outbuilding
The current padlock specification lists the ABS W-Series profile. Choose body size and shackle clearance to fit your hasp or chain, and have the existing key profile confirmed before ordering to code.
Avocet ABS Ultimate padlocks
For a suitable existing nightlatch
Bring a compatible nightlatch cylinder onto your existing ABS key. Check the lock fitting, tailpiece and finish against the selected variant, as well as the exact ABS profile.
Avocet ABS rim cylinder
The product cards show catalogue prices. Existing-code keying costs extra; review the configured charge and full basket total before paying. No keys are supplied with locks built to an existing code.
Check your existing key before you buy
Exact ABS profile
The Ultimate padlock listing specifies W-Series compatibility. Do not assume every ABS-branded key fits every ABS lock. If your profile or range is unclear, ask our team to confirm compatibility first.
Your existing key code
Have the code from your key card ready. Enter it in the existing-code configuration when ordering. If the code is missing or unclear, contact us before buying; a key photo alone is not a confirmed code.
Physical fit
For a padlock, check shackle diameter, internal clearance and body space. For a rim cylinder, check the nightlatch fitting and tailpiece. Key compatibility and physical fit are separate checks.
Charges, extra keys and timing
Existing-code orders carry a custom keying charge and include no new keys. The rim-cylinder listing asks for 3–5 working days for custom keying; confirm the current build and dispatch estimate for your selected padlock or cylinder.
How to match your existing ABS key
-
1. Confirm profile and fit
Check the key card and hardware dimensions. Ask us before ordering if you are unsure of either.
-
2. Configure to your code
Open the product, choose the size or finish, then select “Match existing code” and enter your code in the configuration.
-
3. Review the basket
Check that the lock is keyed to your existing code, review the charge and add spare keys separately if needed. Confirm the lead time before placing an urgent order.
Before you order
Is “keyed alike” the same as matching my existing key?
A new keyed-alike group makes its new locks work together. To use the key you already own, choose the existing-code option and supply that code for compatible hardware.
Will every ABS key work with these padlocks?
Compatibility depends on the exact profile. The selected Ultimate padlock specifies ABS W-Series. Have other ABS profiles checked rather than assuming compatibility from the brand name.
Are extra keys included?
No keys are supplied when locks are built to an existing code. Your existing compatible keys operate the new lock; order additional keys separately if you need more copies.
What if I have lost the key card?
Contact our team before placing an existing-code order. We can advise what identification or decoding route is appropriate for your key. Do not put key codes into public enquiries or shared links.
Check your ABS profile with us
Tell us which ABS range you have and whether you are adding a padlock or a rim cylinder. We can help check the profile, fitting and current custom-build lead time before you place the order.
