Each padbolt in this collection features a high-quality galvanised finish, offering excellent weather protection against rust and corrosion in harsh outdoor environments.

The range includes:

  • Crompton 1A Heavy Duty Padbolt: Designed for demanding applications, featuring a robust 16mm diameter shoot bolt.
  • Crompton 2A Medium Duty Padbolt: A versatile option for standard garden gates and sheds, featuring a 13mm diameter shoot bolt.
  • Crompton 004A Oval Padbolt: A practical design that can be locked in both the open and closed positions for added convenience.

These padbolts are designed to be secured with a padlock (sold separately) to keep your property safe. Please note that fixings are not included.

Crompton

Crompton is a UK architectural ironmongery brand used for the practical, “fit-and-forget” hardware that lives on doors, gates, garages and windows—hinges, bolts, latches, padbolts, hasps & staples, and the assorted steel bits that quietly keep properties together.

Today, Crompton sits within the ERA brand family (ERA explicitly lists Crompton as one of its recognised brands), and the Crompton range is marketed through ERA’s trade channels as their dedicated ironmongery line. 

In ERA’s own wording, the Crompton range covers “everything from gate ironmongery like hinges, bolts and latches to window and garage door ironmongery,” and it’s positioned as traditional, broadly compatible hardware suitable for period and contemporary homes, conversions, and commercial properties—backed by ERA’s product/quality know-how.

Padbolt

Padbolts, often referred to as Brenton bolts, provide robust and reliable security for outdoor gates, sheds, garages, and outbuildings. These heavy-duty sliding bolts feature an integrated loop or hasp, allowing the shoot to be locked securely in place with a padlock. Our selection includes traditional galvanised and zinc-plated steel designs in various sizes and patterns - including heavy-duty 1A and medium-duty 2A options - ensuring excellent corrosion resistance against the elements.
