Hoppe
The company was founded on 5 November 1952 by Friedrich Hoppe in Heiligenhaus near Düsseldorf, initially as a small building-hardware production business during the post-war construction boom. From there it grew into an international group, expanding manufacturing and sales across Europe and beyond.
Today HOPPE describes itself as an owner-managed family business and a European market leader in the development, production, and marketing of door and window handles. The group operates with 20+ sites on three continents and around 2,300 employees, with the owning family (including Wolf, Christoph, and Christian Hoppe) leading the business across the 2nd and 3rd generations.
In product terms, HOPPE is widely used across residential and commercial projects for:
-
Door handle sets (lever handles, roses/backplates, security furniture variants)
-
Window handles (including lockable models and systems for different window profiles)
-
Finishes and specialist surfaces designed for high-use environments
One of their better-known specialist options is SecuSan®, an antimicrobial surface finish for door and window handles that’s designed to suppress the growth of bacteria, algae, and fungi and is marketed as maintenance-free for long-term use—particularly relevant for healthcare, education, and other high-touch public settings.
