Astra Door
Astra Door (often seen as Astra Door Controls) is a UK door-controls brand focused on door closing hardware, especially concealed door closers used in commercial and architectural door sets. The company positions itself as having 25 years at the forefront of door closing technology and says it manufactures products to order in a state-of-the-art facility in Preston.
A key part of Astra’s pitch is testing and compliance: it highlights exhaustive testing in a UKAS-accredited test laboratory, including AVCP performance testing to 500,000 cycles plus batch/component testing. That’s basically them saying “this isn’t a ‘close-ish’ door closer, it’s a ‘close forever’ door closer.”
In the trade channel you’ll commonly see Astra Door products sold as concealed hydraulic closers (including narrow-format models for tighter stiles), with features like adjustable closing speed and adjustable latching action depending on model—aimed at installers who want a clean look (hidden closer) without losing adjustability.
